Welcome to the website for Mr. Smith's class.
Hello parents and all class-related folks! Over the course of the second semester I will attempt to keep this site updated as to upcoming class events, news and areas of study. Please also feel free to email me at dsmith@sfps.info with specific questions.
Week of Feb. 6th
In Math we are continuing in the area of patterns, function and change. We will be using pattern blocks, and doing penny jar problems. As always there will be computation and practice in other areas as addressed in the Math's Mate worksheet. Completing the entire Math's Mate is not mandatory but attempting several different portions is encouraged.
We are in Week 2 of Unit 4 in the Treasures curriculum. The themes this week are teamwork and special talents.
This week for our Tall Tale performances the groups will be start staging for their scripts and thinking about sound effects to go along with them.
In Science the students are grouped by natural resource and will be gathering facts and creating a poster to inform the rest of the class about that resource. This is part of a lesson that was kicked off by a visit from Miss Maranda from the NM State Land Office a week ago.
