Headlines from The President of the PTC ... - Karyn Schmitt

Hello to all WG parents and staff,

The 2010-11 PTC Board has been elected. I would like to personally welcome the board members to their new positions. I know that WG will be well supported by you and all your efforts in keeping this school great.

Dan Baker is our new President. Dan and I have worked closely together over the last years on the board. He has been an incredible support, and so many things would not have been accomplished without him. My thanks to Dan for taking on this position- I know he will be a wonderful president for WG.

I'd like to recognize Renee Martinez who is one of the hardest working parents at WG. Our children have gone through their years at WG together, and this wonderful family will be missed.

My special thanks go to ALL the wonderful and dedicated board members and PTC volunteers with whom I have served - it has truly been a pleasure to work with you.

The years as a parent at WG have brought my family so many wonderful friends. I have learned so much, through our many successes, as well as through our mistakes. I have grown as a parent, and as a person. I will miss WG and all of you very much .

I thank you for the opportunity to be a part of the WG community.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK:

I hope all Wood Gormley parents are having an awesome summer with their children!

We have two new regular education teachers for 2010-11. They are Peggy Johnston who will teach the 5th/6th multi-age class. Due to health reasons, Paula Pointer WILL NOT be teaching the kindergarten/first grade class as previously announced. I am not sure who the District will assign to this position.

Mary Ellen Dannenberg will be teaching special education part-time.

We have a new counselor for 2010-11. His name is Joseph McKenna. He was counselor here several years back.

We will have a new nurse and band teacher but those individuals have not been assigned yet.

We will be at our largest enrollment numbers for the 2010-11 school year with approximtely 425 students.

IMPORTANT! ALL students will need to enroll in August. The enrollment dates are August 12 and 13 from 8:00-3:00. The District has the Supply Lists posted on the SFPS webpage; all schools will have the same Supply Lists.

Anita and I will return to work on Monday, August 2. Therefore, if you have any questions feel free to call the office.

Thanks for letting us work with your children! - Dr. Besett
