Scholastic Book Fair
It's that time of year again!
Our annual Scholastic Book Fair will run from Monday 12/2 thru Wednesday 12/4 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. each day.
There's always a fabulous selection! So be sure to stop by, do some early holiday shopping, find some bargains, and support the school.
Additionally, this is an important library fundraiser and a portion of each purchase goes directly to the Wood Gormley library.
19th Annual Wood Gormley Holiday Drive
This "snowflake" drive supports families in need, and this year we are helping 18 families. Each family has provided a wish list of gift ideas for the family. If you would like to support a local family, please ask your child's teacher for a snowflake and bring your gifts and dry good no later than 20 December.
Chico Bag Fundraiser
The Chico bag fundraiser runs now through 5 December. Your child was given paperwork last week to collect orders. Chico bags are environmentally friendly and make great gifts. Wood Gormley received 40% of the sales price and 50% from online purchases. For more information contact Lisa Rhode at firstname.lastname@example.org
Equal Exchange Fundraiser
Your child brought home forms last week for this fundraiser which supports fair trade and organic products. Deadline to turn in forms is Thursday, 5 December. For more information, please contact Melanie McWhorter at email@example.com

Wood Gormley is a PREFERRED SCHOOL for Land's End clothing!
Are you looking to buy new school uniform items (including selected backpacks, coats, vests, fleece jackets and hoodies, among other items)? Did you know Wood Gormley receives up to 3% back from your purchase? This is a great way to turn your regular shopping into a donation! To participate, click here, then under the FIND MY SCHOOL button click on "Or Find My School Using My Preferred School Number". In the box, enter 900076480. It is necessary to enter a grade and gender, but it is not necessary to register your child's name. Under the Save School button, you may choose to click on the link to "Shop Now" next to "I prefer not to save this information beyond today's visit." Our school will still receive a percentage of your purchase even if you opt to shop privately.
Booth/Webber Traffic Changes
PLEASE NOTE: The city installed signs and street striping over the summer, police officers will begin enforcing the parking changes this school year. These changes are the result of many meetings, lots of though and discussion on alternatives, and should provide better traffic flow as well as much improved safety for the children. Summary of changes that will happen:
- Stopping for loading/unloading is only allowed on the school-side of Booth and Webber. NO STOPPING OR PARKING is allowed on the playground side of Booth, or the residential side of Webber.... at any time.
- Signs are posted along the south side of Booth, and the East side of Webber to indicate 'no parking'.
- a double-yellow stripe was added between traffic lanes, and a shoulder stripe on the school side to clearly identify 'stop and drop/pickup' areas on the school-side of the streets.
- Parents wanting to Park and leave their vehicles are required to use either the Auxiliary Lot at Webber/Buena Vista, the Church Lot, or residential streets where permitted.
We are hopeful that people will change their routes voluntarily, and make the short detour up to Buena Vista if need be rather than entering from Don Gaspar. It would really help if we could ALL treat Booth as a one-way from East (Webber) to West (Don Gaspar)...

FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK:
We had a fabulous Halloween Parade!
Thanks to all the parents/guardians who attended parent/teacher conferences this week!
I would like to have two parents/guardians to volunteer to serve on the School Advisory Council (SAC) for this school year. We meet four or five times during the school year, and our meetings last approximately an hour. The purpose of the SAC is to discuss and provide input into the school programs and needs. The PTC president serves on the SAC, along with two teachers, two parents/guardians and a community member. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested! I would like to schedule the first meeting in the next two weeks.
We will have picture retakes on Wednesday, November 6.
Thanksgiving break will be Wednesday-Friday, November 27-29.
Thanks for driving safely and following the parking guidelines around WG. This helps to keep our students safe.
We appreciate all the parents/guardians who volunteer throughout the schoolyear. If interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact Lindsley in the office.
THANKS TO ALL FOR BEING STRONG SUPPORTERS OF WOOD GORMLEY!
