The Wood-Gormley Parent Teacher Club (PTC), welcomes you to our website.     Donations are starting to trickle in but we were hoping for more of a flood... So, if you've got something to give - cough it up now and let the downpour begin! Bring donations with the completed donation form to the office OR email Amy Fairchild at to arrange to have it picked up! Deadline is April 18th. Need a donation form? ART NIGHT will be a reflection of a Choice-Based ART Education concept that Mary Olson is piloting & implementing at Wood Gormley this year. "Choice-Based Art Education regards students as artists and offers them real choices for responding to their own ideas and interests through the making of art."

    Are you looking to buy new school uniform items (including selected backpacks, coats, vests, fleece jackets and hoodies, among other items)? Did you know Wood Gormley receives up to 3% back from your purchase? This is a great way to turn your regular shopping into a donation! It is necessary to enter a grade and gender, but it is not necessary to register your child's name. Our school will still receive a percentage of your purchase even if you opt to shop privately.

    Booth/Webber Traffic Changes

    PLEASE NOTE: The city installed signs and street striping over the summer, police officers will begin enforcing the parking changes this school year. These changes are the result of many meetings, lots of though and discussion on alternatives, and should provide better traffic flow as well as much improved safety for the children. Summary of changes that will happen:

    • Stopping for loading/unloading is only allowed on the school-side of Booth and Webber.

      NO STOPPING OR PARKING is allowed on the playground side of Booth, or the residential side of Webber.... at any time.

    • Signs are posted along the south side of Booth, and the East side of Webber to indicate 'no parking'.

    • a double-yellow stripe was added between traffic lanes, and a shoulder stripe on the school side to clearly identify 'stop and drop/pickup' areas on the school-side of the streets.

    • Parents wanting to Park and leave their vehicles are required to use either the Auxiliary Lot at Webber/Buena Vista, the Church Lot, or residential streets where permitted.

    We are hopeful that people will change their routes voluntarily, and make the short detour up to Buena Vista if need be rather than entering from Don Gaspar. It would really help if we could ALL treat Booth as a one-way from East (Webber) to West (Don Gaspar)...

    You can print your class pages at home at any time once Rosters are released and you Parents update your own profiles to show this year's teacher/child assignments by using the 'print-friendly format' option in the Directory if desired.

    online news from Mr. Whitcombe and the Band Director's Music/Band Room, Ms. Palmer's PE Corner , Ms. Mary Olson's Art , and Ms. Granzow in the Library are now online in the 'classroom' list. You can subscribe for auto-email notification when they add news by using the 'Change Detection' button on the left side of the screen.

    We have added a section for Special Ed and Occupational Therapy Staff... and will be adding information about how it works if your child needs help or testing.

  • From the Principal:


    The Wood Gormley Science Fair will be held on Thursday, February 13.

    School will be dismissed on Friday, February 14 for Teacher Professional Development Day.

    Monday, February 17 is Presidents' Day, and students will not attend school.

    The next School Advisory Council meeting will be held on Friday, March 14 at 1:00 p.m.

    Standards Based Assessments will be administered in the mornings to grades 3-6 students on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, March 18, 19 and 20. On Tuesday morning, March 25 grade 3 students will take a writing assessment. On Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, March 25-26, grade 4 students will take a science assessment and grade 5 students will take a writing assessment. We appreciate parents/guardians who ensure their children are present on the grade-specific testing dates.

    Thanks to the many parents/guardians who volunteer weekly to assist our teachers and students. You are appreciated!

    Remember that students are dismissed at 12:30 every Friday. Promptly picking up your children enables teachers to have more time to plan for quality instruction.

    I appreciate the many students who arrive at school on time every day unless they are sick. Thanks, parent/Guardians! Wood Gormley received a certificate from the District for a 95% attendance rate for the month of December!

    Continue to drive slowly and safely around the school.
