    Booth One-Way News

The Board continues to ask for everyone's cooperation in voluntary one-way traffic flow during drop-off and pick-up times in front of the school for everyone's safety and to ease the congestion on our narrow streets. Lets get the school year started SAFELY!

We are hopeful that people will change their routes voluntarily, and make the short detour up to Buena Vista if need be rather than entering from Don Gaspar. It would really help if we could ALL treat Booth as a one-way from East (Webber) to West (Don Gaspar)...

  • From the Principal:

    FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK:

Respect is the Character Counts Pillar for January. Overall, we have a very respectful student body.

SBA testing for grades 3-6 is scheduled for March 19-30. Because the State has narrowed the window, it is imperative that students attend these two weeks of school. Please do not plan to extend Spring Break!

Attendance is a District focus this year; therefore, the Attendance Policy will be followed carefully. When students have more than 10 absences in a semester, they may be at risk of not promoting to the next grade. It is extremely important that parents understand that I cannot waive any part of the Attendance Policy. The only reasons that absences may be excused include the following: Bereavement (immediately family member); Long-term Illness (with a professional's note); Short-term Illness; Hazardous Weather; Late Bus Arrival; Short-term Suspension; Long-Term Suspension; School-sponsored Activities; Parent Requested Educational Travel (if approved by principal); Other Emergencies. Remember that an explanation is needed about how travel is educational. Just stating that it is an educational trip is not adequate.

If parents are interested in making donations, here is a list of what we would appreciate: Kleenex tissues, handwipes, waterless hand soap, paper towels, copy paper and three-hole punched copy paper for the I Can Do Math pilot program. These are items that we can use the entire school year and appreciate any donations.

Please be sure to pick your children up immediately after school. We have several students each day who are not picked up on time.

We have several students who are arriving to school too early. Playground coverage is not provided until 7:40 each morning. Please do not bring your children to school before 7:40 a.m.

Remember the importance of driving slowly around WG before and after school. Safety is critical for the well-being of everyone of our students.

Thanks to the parents who volunteer and help our staff and for allowing us to work with your children each day!

    Dr. B
